welcome to What Is This Regarding? where we take a critical lewk at wtf’s going on around us. This wk something kept me up at night; a scary thought. are we post-weird? has the internet made everything so weird that nothing is weird anymore? we have deep fakes, ai generators, dank memes…
what about regular weird?
we are becoming desensitization to the good weird shit.
exhibit A: this song we’ve heard sampled in boring commercials… we think it’s regular and maybe even lame but……… it’s actually a fkn banger.
so if you haven’t guessed it by now, today’s sletter is dedicated to the OG weirds. a moment of silence isn’t really appropriate to honor them, but links, GIFS, and commentary is. LFG:

(2) david byrne was internet before there was internet. his stiff dancing, his color palates, it’s just so iconically weird.
we all know and love him - but its critical to think about what he stands for. big suits. i refuse to even link the number of trend stories about this bc it’s literally fucking everywhere. where did it start? well the nba draft actually - but also w our mans DB.
(3) t boz’s haircut didn’t get enough credit. Peep here. hear me out. mixing mushroom cut influences with the iconic hime kept t boz standing out from the crowd. back in the day, i didn’t appreciate this cut like it demanded.
t boz’s haircut is a reminder - no - an ORDER - to keep doing you. be weird, be wild, and let the haters hate.
(4) rocco’s modern life. like i am AFRAID. what the hell was tv giving to us children w this? it’s violent, chaotic, people are pushing other people into toasters, and that’s just in the intro of the show. sh*t used to be really wild.
the moral of the story today, angels, is this: stay weird, stay awake. don’t just zone out and let the weird pass you by. seize the day, embrace the out of the ordinary, and don’t forget to stop to smell the roses.
