welcome to What Is This Regarding? a weekly sletter where we take a critical lewk at wtf’s going on around us. This wk since apparently LA is now a rainforest, i back-to-backed two WILD films. W-I-L-D, i repeat. both left me with many thoughts, thoughts that led me into a rabbit hole of all my favorite on-screen ladies and the things that they wore while being iconic and i will dump share them here, with you, bc the lewks went crazy + also bc i absolutely must mentally sort thru a lot of tings. so, join me, my friends, at my filing cabinet for a brain massage of cinematic, crucial *moments*.
1. TAR
i mean. F*CK.
where to even BEGIN????? the top tier cashmere draped elegantly over her crisp tailor-made button downs?? ELEGANZA!
talk about a simple slay. you can quite literally smell how expensive, how luxuriOUS, how deeply rich every article of clothing on screen is. each not only slaps, but spanks.
also s/o this lewk bc i am here for this accordion-chic number that’s delivering smocked realness.
2. FIRE WALK WITH ME but also david lynch ladies holistically
fam. i watched twin peaks last year for the first time and its prequel film fire walk with me GAVE. i will go ahead and say what lynch did for suburbcore rly encapsulated the isolation…. the melodrama… the lack of access to prada. KIDDING! kind of!
the weird whimsy gets me thinking crazy thoughts about new life for my cardigans, wallpapering our whole warehouse, slangin vegan burgers at the diner and so much more.
3. OTHER MAMIS WHO STOLE THE SCREEN (and my heart)
jawbreaker ran so euphoria could sprint. those tonal magenta lewks?? the high pigtails?? the INTENSE PLOTTING??? let’s fucking goooooooo.
heathers is so much fkn weirder than i knew - i watched it recently bc somehow it eluded me and genuinely feels…. completely absurdist but also…. dangerously cheesy??? its the the victorian accessories for me. and the arsen.
pls tell me who stole your heart aesthetically bc y’all know i am ALWAYS here for that good clothtalk, especially when it comes w a side of movie popcorn :)
