welcome to What Is This Regarding? where we take a critical lewk at wtf’s going on around us. this wk, i’ve been getting served an unhealthy amount of internet micro trends, so niche that i can’t imagine anyone really knows wtf it is - except the person naming it. kinda like when someone claimed everyone was saying cheugy.
only they were saying cheugy.
this is my plea to the universe: kill the microtrend.
at first it was kinda fun… laughing at girls who don’t eat pasta people LiVinG La DolCe ViTa in romantic silhouettes and stained lips… Yee-Haw-ifying everything… tomato girl summer (aka just wearing…red…?). THIS WAS ACCEPTABLE.
but when mob wife resurfaced as a “new microtrend” and “baked bean girls" started to bubble up…. my brain exploded.

i’m READY to collectively get back to ironically wearing polo shirts, baggy jeans, and anything latex.
remember the simpler times when we were all watching girls and knew what Greenpoint Core was? or even further back when we all watched the OC and Gossip Girl and knew how to dress if you were a blair or a serena or a marissa or a summer?
back then, all roads led to juicy couture or betsey johnson.
THIS IS WHY I AM A PROUD OLD. bc today’s youth IS STILL WEARING ALL OF THAT BUT RUINING IT WITH SILLY MICRO TREND NAMES THAT ARE JUST THE SAME CLOTHES… literally the exact same ones purchased on depop from our moms’ basements.
