hi angels,

welcome to What Is This Regarding? where we take a critical lewk at wtf’s going on around us. this wk i’m extremely sick of seeing the aesthetic everyone is now signed onto: 90s Softcore. while i do live and die by my fave album art of all time that falls in this category……

bc we are here today, in 2023, and it is not 1998. The internet happened, the world is a mess, and maybe we just need to be right here right now and get thru it together.

and the only way to get thru it is to be simultaneously a realist and delulu.

ENTER: HARDCORE

hardcore, aethetically, is important in today’s world bc it is what it is. it isn’t what it isnt. and this level of clarity is key to survival.

times are hard - so i say - it’s time for hard core.

to rly get into it i brought in an expert since i’m more low key shy about my hardcore-ness.

AN INTERVIEW W A BRAND WHO GETS IT: PXRNHOODIES.

i interviewed a fellow wisconsinite + vegan (SOUL CONNECTION FR FR) and got the low down on this quite literal brand that i appreciate. let’s hear what its all about.

WITRe: "Unfollow me.", "A CULT", "JESUS LOVES PORNSTARS", it's clear that your brand for those who GET it... and for those who don't, BYE! How did you start the brand?

XXX: yeah that definitely was the idea behind it - it’s a strong feeling of mine lol. I started my brand while I was living in Wisconsin almost 10 years ago now with this hoodie. I thought it was funny and filled a place in the market I didn’t see filled.

WITRe: what inspires your brand? music, people watching, movies? would love to hear more of what you're into.

XXX: My dad was a painter and always drew nudes; it made me curious at a young age. I’m a big fan of Miles Davis right now, Japanese horror films like “the vampire doll,” the sopranos and sci-fi.

WITRe: can you tell me about the runway show you did? anything coming up for the brand that excites you?

XXX: the last show that I did was in New York in the Dirty Magazine office - I cast everyone thru instagram. Some pieces were inspired by sportswear… just wanted comfortable clothes you could play tennis in or whatever you do. we got a investor who also is a pornstar she is awesome.

A NOTE: my fave part of the whole interview was how XXX signed off:
