hi my beautiful bestie,
welcome to What Is This Regarding? where we take a critical lewk at wtf’s going on around us. it’s clear, as a whole, we’ve all lost the plot.
what even was the genre? it all began when i met someone who didn’t know who pamela anderson was and my entire worldview shattered.
if we’re living in a time where we don’t even know the main characters anymore are we even still in the game?
of course, we all have different main characters in the side plots of our lives; mine are jacqueline susann and most recently julia fox. they center us and help us embody our most inspired identities. the selves that forge the way, pave the proverbial path that lead us to all the good sh*t - love, lessons, L’s, an if we’re lucky, loot.
with a world in shambles, there didn’t seem much left to do but to finally start watching scandal and see if olivia pope is the real main character that i’ve been missing - who maybe is stealing the limelight from Mother Pam.
the first 20 minutes of scandal szn 1 ep 1 was tough. but then… something… happened.
at first… the camera clicking at every scene transition was TOO MUCH. but then…. it started to give Passport to Paris - just the level of corniess I needed. Don’t even get me started with the writing - also level 10000 corny. But something about it….. spoke to me.
her office, employed exclusively by misfits, became a weirdly comforting outpost… where the lost plots converged. look at all these people, coming together, just giving us viewers the warm fuzzies!!!!! HOW NICE. an escape from the everyday yuckiness that so often seeps in. I LOVE THIS ESCAPE! OLIVIA POPE I GET IT!!!!!!
baddies, if there’s ever been a time to reorient and SPRINT toward to plot, its now.
this wk is all about you, being olivia pope.
